President-elect Joe Biden is rewarding the people who helped him get elected with powerful positions, but surprisingly, not everyone accepts them.

Biden offered Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms a powerful position — to serve in his Cabinet, but the mayor surprisingly turned down the offer.

Bottoms were reportedly on Biden’s shortlist to be his vice president before choosing California Senator Kamala Harris.

According to Rashad Taylor, Bottoms’ senior adviser, the mayor is focused on the people of her city and “respectfully declined” the offer.

What position in the Cabinet Bottoms was offered has not been specified.

Bloomberg News reporter Jennifer Epstein tweeted that Bottoms was offered a position to be an “administrator of the Small Business Administration,” but that Bottoms denied reports that she was offered ambassador to the Bahamas.

This month, Biden announced that he would have an all-female senior communications team at his White House. He then announced that Jen Psaki, a longtime Democratic spokeswoman, will serve as his press secretary.

Psaki was a White House communications director and a spokesperson at the State Department under the Obama administration.

Biden also announced late last month that he had selected longtime aide Tony Blinken to serve as the state secretary. Blinken was staff director on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in the 2000s.

Biden has also selected his longtime aide Ronald Klain to serve as White House chief of staff in his incoming administration.
