Calls to decertify Biden’s election results amplify dozens of Arizona-legislature-GOP-members urge state officials amid the ongoing lawsuits on the presidential election legitimacy.
The 28 members released a joint statement before the Monday press conference – a move after Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs and Republican Gov. Doug Ducey certified the state’s general election last week.
The GOP-led state legislature also announced that it would close down for a week after Rudy Giuliani tested positive for COVID-19.
“The election should not have been certified with the number of irregularities and allegations of fraud,” said Petersen in the statement. He said that what’s troubling are the allegations on Dominion.
“It is imperative that a forensic audit occur immediately from the equipment and software. Upon any showing of fraud, the legislature should immediately convene to decertify the vote.”
State Rep. Walter Blackman was also quoted in the release stating that the election outcome “is far from certain.”
“In the past week, seemingly conclusive evidence has come to light through successful litigation that the outcome of the 2020 election is far from certain, and at the very least, further investigation is necessary to ensure the integrity of Arizona’s election results,” Rep. Blackman said.
The lawmaker said that Secretary of State Hobbs must rescind the election’s certification until the allegations have gone to court and the voter confidence is restored.
Representative-Elect Jake Hoffman likewise said that the move was needed to ensure the integrity of the election.
“Ensuring the integrity of Arizona’s 2020 election isn’t just a matter of sound public policy, it is a civil rights imperative,” said Hoffman. He wrote that a few elements of our society are more foundational than the right to free and fair elections. However, when the right was called into question, it is the leader’s responsibility to ensure that the electoral process’s confidence is restored.
Rep. Hoffman added that Arizona must decertify the 2020 presidential election results to adjudicate several irregularities – one that could bring back the people’s confidence in their right to vote.
