Dan Scavino, White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications and Director of Social Media and political advisor, posted a cryptic tweetstorm on Saturday.
Scavino shared President Trump’s several photos, hinting at what is about to happen. He first posted the president on the phone with Andrew Jackson’s photo in the background. Then, President Trump was seen looking at Winston Churchill’s and Abraham Lincoln’s photo.
The political advisor also tweeted an emoji with an American flag and a bald eagle.
The photos were released when a New York Times report was published alleging President Trump met with General Mike Flynn and Atty. Sidney Powell at the oval office. The president apparently discussed the next path relating to the recent presidential election.
According to the report, Powell and Flynn talked to the president about potentially deploying the armed forces to conduct an election “rerun” in the battleground states.
Former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani was also reportedly present in a virtual call.
According to the Times, most of President Trump’s advisers opposed the idea. Giuliani joined the discussion thru a conference call, while Powell was at the White House during the meeting. Two people briefed said that other administration officials went in and out of the meeting. Pat A. Cipollone, White House counsel, pushed back the proposed ideas.
The outlet also reported that, according to the people briefed, Powell accused other advisers of quitting. It remains unclear whether President Trump pushed through the plan.
Maggie Haberman, a White House correspondent for the New York Times, posted more social media context. “The meeting got raucous, with various administration members drifting in and out and different people arguing. Powell told others they were quitters, people briefed on the meeting,” tweeted Haberman.
“Adding to the story, but two people briefed said Flynn was there as well for this meeting,” said Haberman, adding that POTUS asked about deploying the military as suggested by Flynn.
Haberman also wrote that according to the people briefed on the meeting, President Trump also asked about the possibility of giving security clearances to Powell to pursue her theories.
Several people briefed also said that the president thinks “special counsel” is what DOJ did with Mueller. It was apparently discussed in the meeting that Powell would work in the White House, and President Trump almost hired her.
