Another GOP congressman died just three days after Luke Letlow passed on.
Letlow was days from being sworn as Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District Representative when he suffered from a heart attack and died. The late congressman was undergoing surgery at the time due to complications from COVID-19. Letlow was only 41-years old.
According to the KDKA report, Pa. House Representative Mike Reese, who has just been re-elected to serve parts of Westmoreland and Somerset counties, died of a brain aneurysm.
Reese was first elected in 2008 and took office in the legislative session in 2009-10. During the 2019-20 session, he served as caucus secretary in the Pennsylvania House Republican Caucus. He was also elected as chairman of the caucus for the 2020-21 session.
Reese died Saturday afternoon due to a brain aneurysm at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, with his family. Pa. House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff said in a statement, “On behalf of the entire House Republican Caucus, I extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of Rep. Mike Reese.”
“More than a friend to all of us, and one of our caucus leaders, Mike was a devoted husband and father. His wife, three young children, and extended family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” he continued.
Benninghoff also said to have known Reese since 2009 and was proud to have seen several legislative accomplishments. He claims Reese was a model legislator who has thoughtfully put first his constituents.
“His spirit, presence, and counsel will be sorely missed.”
Reese contracted COVID-19 on December 7th last year.
However, no evidence or report indicated any link between the coronavirus and his death. The late congressman has three children with his wife, Angela.
Let us pray for the late congressmen’s soul and their bereaved families.
