A team of investigators are being dispatched in Georgia after a ballot issue was revealed in Fulton County, one of the counties where Democrat Presidential candidate Joe Biden took the lead over President Trump.

Late Saturday, Brad Raffensperger, Georgia Secretary of State, announced late that investigators are headed to Fulton County State Farm Arena to “secure the vote and protect all legal votes.” Raffensperger did not disclose the nature of the ballot issue.

“Fulton County has discovered an issue involving reporting from their work on Friday. Officials are at State Farm Arena to rescan their work from a day before [Friday],” said the Secretary of State.

Raffensperger has an onsite monitor and has sent additional investigators. He also dispatched the Deputy Secretary of State to oversee the process and ensure that all legal votes are thoroughly secured and protected. Both political parties’ observers were also present in the area.

Atlanta’s WXIA chief investigator Brendan Keefe announced that the issue might alter the course of the election. The recount may severely affect Biden’s lead in Georgia.

The county then issued a statement late Saturday to address the controversy. Fulton County disclosed “some ballots were not captured” on the Friday nights vote. Also, “a smaller number” of ballots remain to be scanned.

“Out of an abundance of caution, all provisional, military, and [Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act] ballots that are scanned on Friday, November 6 will be rescanned tonight,” read the statement.

It said that the upload on Friday would be pulled out and replaced with Saturday’s rescanned file.

Richard Barron, Fulton County Election Director, described the election issue as a failure to transfer the files to a server prompting a rescan of some ballots. He later announced that the rescanning process was completed.

According to the election director, 342 ballots were rescanned on Saturday “so that we balanced out.” Baron said some files did not transfer to a server, while some ballots had to be scanned the next day. He claimed not to know whether the issue was on the software or physical.

Biden led about 7,200 votes from Trump in Georgia. Such a narrow margin prompted the Secretary of State on Friday to announce a recount of votes.
