Roughly 50,000 Ohio voters received the wrong ballot this week after an election worker improperly changed the ballot machine’s settings.

According to the Columbus Dispatch on Friday, elections director Ed Leonard from the Franklin County admitted that a yet to be identified elections worker wrongly changed a ballot machine’s setting.

The machine produced mismatched ballots and envelopes, causing 49,669 voters from Franklin County to receive different ballots. The roughly 50,000 voters received ballots from other cities.

The error comes after a contentious election cycle, where voters opted to vote through absentee ballots due to the pandemic’s health concerns.

The wrong ballots will be replaced with new ones that include secret envelopes with a barcode to avoid double voting. At least 237,000 Franklin County voters have requested mail-in ballots, including Columbus, Ohio’s capital city.

President Trump, who has seriously contested the use of mail-in ballots, tweeted Friday that the issues surrounding Franklin County, illustrates a “rigged” election.

On the other hand, mainstream media outlets tried to downplay the worries of the president and have dismissed concerns over fraud in absentee ballots. They claim President Trump is propagating the hoax.

However, as the election draws near, issues have begun to pop-up across states making the president’s caution come true.

New York City’s printing error caused almost 100,000 voters to receive absentee ballots with the wrongly printed address, name, and voter ID.

Similarly, Washington and Michigan affected nearly 6,500 total ballots.

New Yorker civilian voters also received military absentee ballots.
